Maia Kadmos

  • Age: 32
  • Height: 5′ 9″
  • Weight: 131 lbs
  • Origin: Sparta, Greece
  • History: As the daughter of a Spartan General, General Agnes Myron Kadmos III, Maia is no stranger to combat and war. While she might be quick to anger at times she prefers non-violent surroundings and tending to her garden of flowers. Maia was raised as one would imagine the child of a Spartan general would be. Training and sparring with her father and other soldiers since she was old enough to hold a sword. Having trained with some of Sparta’s toughest veterans, Maia became well versed in all types of combat and weapons, from a standard Spartan spear and shield to a bow and arrow or dual wielding swords and daggers.

Being Spartan, all men and women were expected and assumed to survive a fight against multiple enemies at once, and Maia was no exception to that. She regularly sparred with up to 7 soldiers all attacking her at once. Spartan soldiers could easily defeat 3-4 attackers at once, but not everyone could defeat 5, let alone 7 and possibly more like Maia could. Her speed, agility and accuracy when attacking were a remarkable sight to witness and a perfect example of weapons being an extension of your body, not just something you hold and swing.

The warm summer was quickly coming to an end and winter was right around the corner. Maia always enjoyed camping and wanted to go one more time before it got too cold. She invited her secret lover and two close friends to join her on one more adventure before winter. They loaded up their horses with camping gear set out into the forest.

A few days later they reached their campsite near a small river stream, and began to set up their tents and explore the nearby surroundings. They walked over to the nearby stream, Maia and her lover standing near the edge as her 2 friends stood to the right on the rock high above her. They all stood in awe at the beautiful sight before their eyes as they drank their posca and watched the sun set. She looked over and saw her 2 friends talking intimately, she always knew they were perfect together and eagerly awaited the moment they became more than best friends. She hoped this trip would be that moment. Everything was perfect, Maia had escaped everyday life and got to live in peace for a short time in good company with her friends.

The sun set and they headed back to camp and began to pour drinks, smoke cannabis and cook dinner. As they sat around the campfire laughing and reminiscing about all the fun things they did growing up together, Maia’s lover, having had a bit too much to drink, stood up and quietly walked away from the campfire. Thinking nothing of it and assuming he was going to sleep, Maia and her friends continued drinking and telling stories.

Time quickly passes and the sun begins to rise, none of them have slept or stopped drinking. Her friend made a comment about the rising sun and how the night was already over, looked over and noticed Maia’s lover was not in his tent. He asked Maia where he was and she didn’t know. They stand at the tent looking around at the nearby trees to see if they could spot him. With no luck Maia begins to yell for him. After a few moments of yelling his name Maia begins to worry that something happened. She grabs her 2 swords, straps them to her back, and tells her friends the party is over and to go home. They refuse, they tell Maia that they are with her until the end, no matter what. An obvious bond between not just Spartans but good friends. She hugs them both, kisses them on their cheeks and whispers “Thank you.” They mount their horses and set out to track his trail. They quickly spot an area near their camp where he was stumbling around and begin to follow the broken branches on the trees. After a short journey down a path, they see a broken branch with blood on it. All 3 look at each other in silence, and without saying a word, dismount their horses and draw their weapons.

Maia signals to her friends to spread out. The 3 of them begin to slowly walk forward, prepared for possible combat beyond the shrubs ahead. Maia approaches the shrubs first and slowly pushes an opening with her hands, revealing a man sitting next to a fire. He appeared to be going through the pockets of what looked like a familiar bag. She looks to the right and sees a cart with a body on it, and immediately recognizes the shoes, it’s him, her lover. She jumped through the bushes, startling the man and began to run toward him. The man stood up quickly and began to run and screamed “Over here! They’re over here!”

Maia and her friends catch up to the man and pin him against a tree. As Maia raised her sword to the man’s throat, prepared to end his life, his friends arrived with their weapons drawn. Maia looks around at the group of men, slowly lowering her sword and letting the man go. He quickly scurried over to his friends like the murderous coward he was. Maia turns and faces the leader of the group and tells him that either she kills the man who killed her lover or she kills them all. The group of men begin to laugh as if a child has threatened them with a stick. As they stood there laughing Maia turns her head and looks behind toward her friends, and winks with a small grin on her face. She turns her head back toward the men who are still laughing, raises her right hand and throws her sword. The leader, laughing and looking at the man beside him, sees the sword spinning toward him out of the corner of his eye, stops laughing and turns his head, looking directly at Maia as the sword pierces all the way through his face and out the back of his skull. Dead instantly, he slowly falls backward and his body slams onto the ground. The men stop laughing and with a look of confusion and anger raise their swords and begin to run toward Maia.

One by one, Maia makes quick work of the men. As the last man attacked her she swung her sword and dismembered his arm, rather than killing him immediately. He falls to the ground screaming in pain. Maia lifts the man’s head up off the ground by his hair and says “I want you to deliver a message to your leader for me.” Screaming in pain, the man looks at Maia in fear. She lets the man’s head go, raises her sword and pushes it through his mouth and through the back of his skull into the ground. Breathing heavy and covered in blood, she slowly stands up, turns around and walks to her friends near the bushes. They quickly comforted her for her loss and walked back to camp so they could pack up and head back home. A beautiful vacation with friends was tragically cut short after the first day.

Not long after arriving home rumor has spread of a gruesome murder in the forest. Maia was ultimately identified by her sword that she left in the man’s mouth to send a message. It had her family’s insignia engraved in the handle. She was convicted for her crime of multiple murders that day, despite her reasoning. Maia was sentenced to 10 years in prison or 5 years in the Colosseum. Given that her blood was Spartan, she chose to spend 5 years in the Colosseum.
